What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is an alternative medicine practice that uses specific pressure points on the hands, feet, and ears to relieve pain and reduce anxiety.

One of the most basic beliefs in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is that your life force energy, or Qi (pronounced “chee”), flows through specific pathways in the body that end in the feet. Manipulation of these end points in your feet can improve the flow of Qi through your body and promote healing.

Clients seek mobile in-home reflexology sessions for treatment of many different illnesses including:

  • Insomnia
  • Headaches
  • Gastrointestinal (GI) problems
  • High blood pressure (Hypertension)
  • Reproductive issues
  • Sinus infections
  • Diabetic neuropathy
  • Foot and ankle pain

You can get the most benefit out of your reflexology session by improving other session elements such as adding aromatherapy, choosing peaceful music, and providing a relaxing environment.

There are conflicting medical studies on the effectiveness of reflexology and energy work in general. However, most clients experience relaxation and stress relief during and after a session. It is a non-invasive technique that carries little to no risk, and let’s be honest, it just feels really good.

This massage technique is commonly performed without the use of lotion or oil as friction is an important part of the treatment style.

I can incorporate reflexology into any of the mobile massage therapy sessions that I perform.
